In this tutorial, you are going to learn how to use the timeline.
This feature allows you to manage scene temporality with a timeline and the events edition.
Using the timeline, you can for example go to a specific time of the video and create interactions from it. To better understand this feature, here is an example:
“At a precise time of the 360° video, a text (information) appears in the panorama and the 360° video pauses.”
I suggest you watch this video or read the explanations below to know more:
Here are the main steps to follow:
- Enrich the panorama by adding a text item
- Create the event
Step 1 – Enrich the panorama
Add a text item
- Click on the button “Add an item”
- Click on the text item to add it in the scene
- Rename it in the right column. You will be able to easily find it among the other added items.
Define the text item properties
- Click on the icon “PROPERTIES” in the right column
- Write your text in the dedicated area
- Format the text using the different options like the typography, the size, etc.
- Rename the initial aspect of the item
- Define the states of this item (in our example, the item is “invisible” at the beginning of the experience and then becomes “visible”)
- Close the window “PROPERTIES”
Step 2 – Create an event
For this step, define the item’s time of appearance in the panorama. Click on “Open/Close the animation tool”. The timeline window appears in the scene.
The two red bars displayed in the timeline indicate the beginning and the end of the 360° video.
To select an item’s time of appearance:
- Click on the button “Play/Pause” to launch the 360° video then click again on the same button to stop the video at the time in question. You can also click on the playhead, hold and drag it to the desired time.
- Click on “Add an event”
- A new conditional is created in the filter of the scene scenario mode:
- Rename the conditional
- Adjust the time if needed
- Define the consequences. In our example: in the current scene, the text item changes state and becomes visible and the 360° video timeline pauses*.
* As you can see, you can also create events with consequences on the timeline itself. These events take the form of states like:
- Play – Read the 360° video
- Pause – Pause the 360° video
- Stop – Stop the 360° video and go back to the beginning of the timeline
- Go – Go to a particular moment of the 360° video timeline
- Leave the scenario mode and go back to the scene.
Test the project
Test the experience by clicking on the button “Test the experience” at the top right of the screen.
Delete an event
You can delete an item:
- Click on the event in question in the timeline to select it
- Click on “Delete the selected event”
If you need to edit an event, go back to the conditional filter of the scene.
