How to improve the user’s immersion in a 360° experience?
This tutorial will show you how to create an immersive environment for users with Speedernet Sphere. 😀
If you remember, I described the following scenario as an example, in the tutorial “Create an interactive and immersive experience”:
“The user is at his workplace ’Maintenance workshop’. A noise is suddenly heard in the workshop.
The user must listen carefully to identify the area where the problem is coming from. Once this area has been identified, the user must seek out and identify the items needed to fix the problem.”
In the tutorial from part 1, “Create interactive exercises”, I showed you how to use aspects, states and conditionals. In this tutorial (part 2), I will show you how to make this realization more immersive.
Speedernet Sphere provides a number of possibilities and features which allow you to create an immersive environment in your 360° experience.
In this tutorial, you will see two examples:
- Sound– The user must identify where the noise is coming from
- Timeline – If the user cannot identify the area; an assistance screen is displayed after 15 seconds to facilitate him or her
In this example, the user must listen carefully to the noise to find where the problem is coming from. If he or she cannot find it, a clue is displayed.

I suggest you watch the video below to see how these steps are implemented:
Sound
In Speedernet Sphere, sound is spatialized. The user can identify the area of the scene where the sound is coming from. If a sound is coming from the left side of the scene, it will be louder on the left side of the headphones. If the user changes the position of his head, it will sound different.
Depending on your scenario, sound plays a key role in the creation of 360° immersive projects. When you use sound, you can focus the user’s attention on a precise spot of the scene. Moreover, it allows you to reduce text integration quality from your project and enables the user to benefit more from the 360° environment.
Timeline
The timeline feature enables you to improve the user’s immersion. Depending on your scenario, you can trigger actions and/or interaction possibilities over time. If an action must be triggered after a certain amount of time, you can configure it.
This will allow you to create a notion of time for the user, especially for projects made of 360° photos.
